Classes & Courses

Classes, courses, and socials are held every Monday evening (except for bank holidays and during the summer and Christmas holidays) from 7pm at the Desperate Men, Mivart Studio in Bristol.

Our principal teacher is Denis Veloso who brings his unique style, energy, and humour to his lessons. We also occasionally invite a guest teacher down to Bristol to share their unique experience and perspective on forró.

Monday Night Classes & Courses

The big news for Forró Bristol as 2026 starts is that we now have two rooms at the Mivart Studio venue on Monday nights. This means that we can provide a wider range of tuition to the wonderful people of Bristol and beyond from beginners to advanced dancers. There will now be three classes and an extended social dance session for class participants to practice their skills. The advanced level class is a drop-in class (as before), and the other two classes are the lessons for the two courses running at the time. We currently have three sets of courses organised for the winter (January 2026), spring (March 2026), and summer (May 2026), see below for more details.

The Large Room

7pm: Advanced Level Class

The first class starts at 7pm, it is usually for those at good intermediate and advanced level. The class is taught by Denis, or by a guest teacher from time to time.

8pm-9:30pm: Social Dance

Open to everyone who took the advanced class or is on one of the courses.

Intermediate level forró course running over several weeks.

A forró course for beginners running over several weeks.

Forró Courses

As of January 2026 we will be running two courses in tandem on Monday evenings from 8pm to 9:30pm: an intermediate level course and a beginner level course. Both courses run over seven weeks and have to be booked in advance prior to commencement of the course. To enrol on a course please click the appropriate button below (Winter, Spring or Summer) that will take you to a google form. Fill in the google form and book your place on the required course (Intermediate or Beginner).
