Classes, courses, and socials are held every Monday evening (except for bank holidays and during the summer and Christmas holidays) from 7pm at the Desperate Men, Mivart Studio in Bristol.
Our principal teacher is Denis Veloso who brings his unique style, energy, and humour to his lessons. We also occasionally invite a guest teacher down to Bristol to share their unique experience and perspective on forró.

Monday Night Classes & Courses
The big news for Forró Bristol as 2026 starts is that we now have two rooms at the Mivart Studio venue on Monday nights. This means that we can provide a wider range of tuition to the wonderful people of Bristol and beyond from beginners to advanced dancers. There will now be three classes and an extended dance session for class participants to practice their skills. The advanced level class is a drop-in class (as before), and the other two classes are the lessons for the two courses running at the time.

Every week (that we are running) we have an advanced/intermediate drop-in class taught by Denis Veloso or a guest teacher. The class starts at 7pm and includes a practice session from 8-9:30pm, all for £10. Our guest teachers come from far and wide, some from the UK, others from Europe, and of course some from Brazil.
Our advanced classes are on Monday at 7pm, they start back on 14 September 2026.
Forró Courses

The two courses start on Monday 14th September and run for 7 weeks, please enrol on the course before attending to avoid too much admin on the night. Both courses are level 2, so you should have some experience dancing already.
Beginners Course
Beginners Course
Have you always wanted to try forró? Are you completely new to partner dancing? This course is perfect for you! Our Forró Beginners course is designed for people with no previous experience. We’ll guide you step by step through the fundamentals, helping you build confidence, coordination, and connection in a fun and supportive environment.
Level 2: Beginner level with some forró experience required. Participants should have danced forró before and be familiar with the basic steps, as well as a simple turn.
The course will be led by our local teacher Denis Veloso and will run every Monday for 7 weeks, at Mivart Studios (Desperate Men), Cato St., BS5 6JL, Bristol.
Course time: 8:45 – 9:30pm
Dates: September: 14, 21, 28, October: 5, 12, 19, 26

Roots Course
Roots Course
Are you ready to go further with your foundations, improve your connection and feel more confident on the dance floor? This Forró Roots Fundamentals course 2 is designed to help you build solid basics, refine your technique and develop your musicality in a fun and supportive environment.
Level 2: This course is ideal for dancers who already know the basic steps and feel comfortable dancing a full song. You should be familiar with rhythm, basic turns, and have some experience dancing in partner rotation. If you’re completely new to forró, we recommend starting with our Beginners course first.
The course will be led by our local teacher Denis Veloso and will run every Monday for 7 weeks, at Mivart Studios (Desperate Men), Cato St., BS5 6JL, Bristol.
